With the excuse of remembering every year to Manuel Curros Enríquez and Celso Emilio Ferreiro (both of them were born in the popular “Arriba Street” in Celanova) two of the best literary figures of the 19th and 20th centuries in Galicia and two of the major exponents of the civil poetry from the Revival of Galician literature, the Foundation Curros Enríquez (before the Board of Trustees) in collaboration with the City Hall of Celanova has been organizing yearly from 1985 the “Celanova, The Poets´ Home” prize which tries to make honour to a Galician person that all along his life has stood out for the defence of the Galician cultural values in the ample sense of the word.

Foundation Curros Enríquez (Celanova-Ourense)
Prize:
A silver medal, made by the sculptor Acisclo Manzano, which shows on one side Curros Enríquez´s house and on the other side five concentric “C” that symbolize the letter by which the representative elements of this prize start: “House, Curros, Celanova, Castor, and Celso”. The name Castor Elices, a romantic poet contemporary of Curros who was also born in Celanova. And the name Celso refers to the poet Celso Emilio Ferreiro. The prize-winner also receives a silver commemorative plaque which shows a summary of the agreement certificate with the aim of testifying to the prize. In the award ceremony the winner always signs in the honour book of the prize, following the habit of leaving a writing for the memory.

Prize philosophy:
The prize tries to remember every year a person or entity that all along their life has stood out for developing an intense work in favour of the Galician culture in all its facets.
Award dates:
It is made public on 7th, March, coinciding with the death of Manuel Curros Enríquez and it is handed over in an act that takes place on the first Sunday of September, just after the 31st, August, the date of Celso Emilio Ferreiro´s death. In this way, it is tried to join the final dates of the two figures most distinguished of the letters of Celanova.
Jury:
The jury only consists of the Board of Trustess of the Foundation Curros Enríquez that is held by the mayor of Celanova, as the president of the Foundation of which several Galican institutions and entities take part, as well as people from different cultural and social spheres of Celanova, having as the most outstanding figure the writer native from Vilanova dos Infantes, Xosé Luis Méndez Ferrín.
